Constantly evolving, this course is designed to help you quickly start playing with pre-recorded music or along with other musicians. The focus is on hands-on learning rather than heavy theory.

General Objectives :

Course Content

Play Along with Your Favorite Songs

  • Learn a song using sheet music or playing by ear
  • Play in sync with the music you hear
  • Explore multiple ways of interpreting a musical piece

Introduction to Accessible Rhythms and Musical Styles (Rock, Pop, Punk, Alternative Rock, Metal, Blues, R&B, Funk, Hip Hop)

  • Step-by-step coordination exercises to develop independence of hands and feet
  • Exploration of eighth-note and sixteenth-note rhythms (rock beat, funk, R&B, pop)
  • Exploration of triplet-based rhythms (shuffle rock, blues)
  • Practice using digital media (MP3, online music platforms)

Stick and Pedal Technique

  • Proper positioning of hands, feet, and body
  • Single strokes, double strokes, rolls, paradiddles, flams, and other essential rudiments
  • Exercises focused on building speed, endurance, precision, and control
  • Work on sound quality, dynamics, accents, and ghost notes

Creativity

  • Apply learned rhythms to create your own variations
  • Introduction to improvisation: develop ability to improvise using simple rhythmic ideas and different cymbals
  • Improvisation including duets with two drum kits or playing along with musical tracks.

Pulse, Groove, and Dynamics

  • Learn to play a pre-recorded sequence along with a metronome
  • Learn how to create a balanced dynamic between all parts of the drum kit
  • Maintain a steady pulse over extended periods
  • Study a variety of grooves, feels, dynamics, accents, and ghost notes

Additional Musical Foundations

  • Ergonomic setup of the drum kit
  • Reading musical notation: notes and rest values (quarter, eighth, sixteenth, triplet)
  • Understanding song forms and rhythmic structures
  • Basic drum tuning techniques

The beginner course spans 3 to 12 months by following one-hour lessons each week.

Pricing

Flexible options to fit your schedule and budget: courses are available weekly, bi-weekly, or as needed. Lessons can be scheduled for 1 hour, 90 minutes or up to two hours.

Lessons for children are also available with a shorter duration, 30 & 45-minutes.
